Who it's for

For erectors and GCs holding the steel

You have the steel package: a PEMB, a conventional structural frame, or the secondary steel on a data center shell. You're the one accountable for getting it up. Your connectors are tied up on another job, or the steel showed up before the crew did.

Alpha Labor Co. staffs that gap with ironworker crews that come with their own foreman. They work under your scope, to your erection plan and your sequence, alongside your crane and your operator.

We are the specialist staffing company for PEMB and IMP work, not a generalist temp agency, and steel erection is the front end of every building we work on. The crew that sets your frame understands what the panel crew needs from it.

What the crews do

What our ironworker crews do

01

Structural steel

Columns, beams, and rafters: shaking out, rigging, connecting, and bolting up to the erection drawings and your sequence.

02

PEMB primary frames

Setting columns on anchor bolts, assembling rigid frames on the ground, flying complete bents into place, then plumbing and bracing them.

03

Secondary steel

Purlins, girts, eave struts, flange braces, and rod or cable bracing, set to the spacing schedule so the panel crew gets a true surface.

04

Rigging and connecting

Our hands rig the picks, run the tag lines, and make the connections. Our foreman works the pick cycle with your operator so the hook keeps moving.

05

Plumb, line, and bolt-up

Frames plumbed and lined, temporary bracing set and released in order, and bolts brought up to the connection details before the next bay goes on.

06

The envelope after the frame

The same crew standard carries into roof panels, wall panels, and IMP, so you are not changing labor suppliers at dry-in.

How it works

From the call to the first pick

  1. Send the steel scope

Building type, tonnage or square footage, location, start date, and crew size. Call (772) 285-6009 or send a crew request.

  2. We build the crew

A field ops manager matches connectors and bolt-up hands who have done that kind of frame, led by a foreman who has run it.

  3. We carry the employer side

W-2 payroll, E-Verify, and workers’ compensation are ours. We are licensed and bonded in all 50 states.

  4. The crew mobilizes

From our Kansas City base. A 4- to 15-person crew is on site within 24 hours; full hyperscale mobilizations take about two weeks.

  5. Plan the picks together

Before the first pick, our foreman goes through your erection plan, the sequence, and the crane setup with your superintendent.

  6. Scale with the steel

Add connectors when steel arrives in volume, then step down as the frame tops out and the work moves to secondary and panel.

Clear lines

Cranes, plans, and who runs what

Steel erection staffing works when everyone knows where the lines are. Alpha Labor supplies labor. We do not take over or warranty your scope, and we are not a general contractor.

  • Your side: the contract, the scope, the erection plan, the sequence, and acceptance of the work.
  • Cranes and operators: yours or the GC’s, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Our crews rig and connect; your operator runs the crane.
  • Our side: the ironworkers, the foreman who directs them, and the employer paperwork: W-2 payroll, E-Verify, and workers’ comp.

Steel erection falls under OSHA’s steel erection standard, Subpart R of the construction rules. Our foremen plan the day with it and with your site safety plan in mind: fall protection, safe connecting, and bracing before anything is released. The record behind that is 2M+ hours worked with zero injuries and a 0.71 EMR.

The difference

Ironworker crews, not a temp pool

Steel is where a generalist labor pool costs the most. Short on more than steel? See how our construction staffing covers the whole envelope.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you staff structural steel, or only PEMB?

Both. Alpha Labor Co. supplies foreman-led ironworker crews for structural steel, secondary steel, and PEMB primary frames. PEMB and IMP buildings are our specialty, so our crews are strongest where the steel meets the metal building envelope.

Do you provide the crane?

No. Cranes are run by your operators or the GC’s unless otherwise agreed in writing. Our crews rig the picks, run the tag lines, and connect, and our foreman works the pick cycle with your operator.

Who is responsible for the erection plan and the sequence?

You are. You hold the scope, the erection plan, and the sequence, and you accept the work. Our foreman goes through the plan with your superintendent, runs our crew to it, and raises anything that does not add up before the pick, not after.

How do your crews approach OSHA’s steel erection standard?

Steel erection falls under OSHA Subpart R. Our foremen plan the day with it and with your site safety plan in mind: fall protection, safe connecting, and bracing before release. The record behind that is 2M+ hours worked with zero injuries and a 0.71 EMR.

Are your ironworkers W-2 employees?

Yes. Every hand is a W-2 employee of Alpha Labor Co. and is E-Verified at hire. We carry payroll, payroll taxes, and workers’ compensation, and we are licensed and bonded in all 50 states.

How fast can you get an ironworker crew to my site?

A 4- to 15-person crew can be on site within 24 hours anywhere in the continental U.S. Full hyperscale mobilizations take about two weeks. Call (772) 285-6009 when the date is close.

Can you put a crew on a steel job that is already underway?

Yes. Our foreman walks the erected steel with your superintendent first, confirms where the last crew left off and what is still on temporary bracing, and then the crew picks up from there.

Steel on the ground? Request a crew.

A field ops manager reviews every request personally, usually within a few hours on business days. Tell us the frame, the location, and the start date.
