Building in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh builds on hills and between rivers. Lots in neighborhoods like Lawrenceville and the Strip District are narrow, crane picks get planned around streets that can't stay closed for long, and the regional economy leans on universities, hospitals and the reuse of old industrial ground. Alpha's local work tracks that mix: public and institutional buildings in Westmoreland, Armstrong and Beaver counties, a multifamily building in the city and a winter job down the Mon Valley in Charleroi.
Prevailing wage in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania's Prevailing Wage Act covers public works projects over $25,000, and federally funded work falls under Davis-Bacon. Five of Alpha's ten Pittsburgh-area projects were prevailing-wage jobs, each reported on certified payroll through the system the job required. Crews are classified to the job's wage determination, and you get the payroll records your own filings need.
Winter doesn't stop the schedule
Several of our Pittsburgh-area jobs ran straight through the cold months: the Bethel Park crew of nine worked through the holidays, and the Charleroi crew built to ten and held there through the depth of winter. Crews also scale with the sequence — the Westmoreland County job ran as many as 14 hands at its peak and stepped down to two for closeout.
Getting a crew to Pittsburgh
Crews travel from Alpha's Kansas City base — about 840 road miles, roughly 13 hours by road. A foreman-led crew of 4 to 15 can be on site within 24 hours of the go-ahead; full hyperscale mobilizations take about two weeks.
