Metro Detroit's building market

Southeast Michigan’s industrial base is being rebuilt around new vehicle, battery and advanced-manufacturing plants, and the suppliers and warehouses that feed them spread across Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. Inner-ring suburbs like Berkley, Royal Oak and Ferndale are a different kind of job: tight lots, neighbors close by, and deliveries planned around busy streets.

Michigan's short season

Michigan winters shorten the erection season, so spring and summer starts get crowded and crews get scarce. Our Berkley job ran through the spring with a crew that peaked at nine. Booking a crew before the season opens is the easiest way to hold a start date.

Public work and paperwork

State-funded and federally funded projects in Michigan can carry prevailing-wage and certified-payroll requirements; Alpha supplies certified payroll when a job calls for it. Every hand is a W-2 employee of Alpha, E-Verified, with workers' comp handled by Alpha.

Michigan also runs its own occupational-safety program, MIOSHA, with construction standards of its own — steel erection among them. Crews work to your site safety plan and the MIOSHA rules that apply to the job.

Beyond the city

Oakland County holds much of the region's newer light-industrial, research and commercial space, from Troy and Auburn Hills west to Novi and Wixom, while Macomb and Wayne carry more of the heavy plants and the logistics space around Detroit Metro Airport. Alpha's crews mobilize to any of it from the Kansas City base, the same way they reached Berkley.
